Five years

July 23, 2009, was our five year anniversary. We celebrated by taking a trip to Northern California. We started in Sausalito, a cute little beach city. We walked around the town and had some really good fish and chips. It is such a beautiful and artsy little town, there were people painting as well as sculptures all around the gardens.
There was the craziest huge yacht in the bay...
This guy was stacking rocks next to the water, it was so weird?! but amazing...
That night we went to San Francisco. We walked around Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, we drove up and then down Lombard Street, we filled our clam chowder and sourdough bread craving and had such a good time.

I absolutely love hydrangea, and they were all over Lombard Street. Paul said they were bigger than my head!

The next day we drove down the coast. We stopped in Santa Cruz, Monterey, Pebble Beach, Carmel and even drove to Big Sur. It was so fun. We saw a lot of sights and enjoyed the quality time together.

At the marina in Monterey.
Paul surprised me by renting this convertible. Even though we had to fold Paul up to get him in and out of it, it made our trip so much fun. From Monterey we did the 17-mile drive through Pebble Beach to Carmel-By-The-Sea. It was a beautiful drive.
You can see the Lone Cypress Tree in the background. It is 350 years old, and still standing.
Leaving Carmel, going to to Big Sur.
On Monday we went to Muir Woods. We hiked 4 miles, and saw the amazing trees.
We were standing next to the "Kent Tree". William Kent named the tallest tree in Muir Woods after himself after donating his time and money to the park for 25 years.
Paul is standing inside one of the trees, it split, but is still standing.
After Muir Woods we drove up to Napa, it was another beautiful drive.
We took a tour of the vineyards, winery and wine caves at the Clos Pegase winery.

While we were in Napa and Sonoma, we went to several wineries including Simi, Clos Pegase, Franciscan, Ravenswood, Goosecross and a champagnerie, Domaine Chandon. While in Sonoma we rode bikes 15 miles through wine country. It was so beautiful, and the weather couldn't have been better our entire trip. We had a great time together and were able to celebrate and reflect on our first five years of marriage. Hayden had a great time with all four of his grandparents, even though we couldn't wait to get home to see him, he didn't want to come home!

Arizona

My cousin got married July 11, in Flagstaff, AZ and we went down for the festivities. It was a very nice wedding, unfortunately I have no pictures to prove it! But here are some from the rehersal dinner...
Hayden loved being outside, he didn't notice the celebration going on, he was all about the basketball court!
My cousin Courtney, me, my sister Ashley and the bride Megan at Megan's bachelorette party. It was so good to see everybody and we had so much fun!

Happy Birthday

Paul's birthday was July 6th. He had the day off and we hung out at the pool and relaxed with Hayden. That night we went to see Transformers 2 at the IMAX...loud is an understatement! I made him a special dinner and by his request, a Key Lime Pie.

Summer fun

One night after a walk, Hayden decided it would be fun to run through the sprinklers. It was so cute to watch. He was soaked and needless to say, we headed straight for the tub. Boys are so much fun!

We have also been going to the pool quite a bit, Hayden is such a little fish, even when his chin is quivering he doesn't want to get out. He is back floating pretty well and loves to be dunked.

He loves his swim teacher!

Saturday Mornings

Every Saturday morning, Hayden gets up, eats breakfast and destroys the family room. It has become our routine and he loves it. How cute does he look in his jammies?

Banana

Hayden's favorite thing to eat these days is a banana, and it is our favorite word he says. He says so many things now, but this is the most intelligible one besides Mom and Da Da.
